Portable Containment Unit (PCU)

CONTAIN → CAPTURE → FILTER

Keep the room operational while reducing exposure to ceiling-work contaminants

Patients can stay. Particulates don’t.

Ceiling access and maintenance are routine in any hospital, and the work releases dust and particulates into the space below.

The PCU contains that work at the point it happens, so patients and staff are protected from breathing it in.

Your own team collects it, rolls it in and sets it up in minutes, so the space around it can remain open and operational.

Give your infection prevention team a standardised, engineered process to sign off

Deploy whenever ceiling access is required

  • Fire safety
  • HVAC work
  • Plumbing
  • HEPA replacements
  • Fault finding
  • Electrical checks

1. ROLL IN:

Your technician collects your own PCU from the storeroom and rolls it in through any standard doors.

2. SET UP:

The PCU sets up in minutes, without tools or assistance.

3. CONTAIN:

The ceiling work happens inside it, and the room can stay open around it.

4. FILTER:

Air from the ceiling is drawn into the PCU and through H14 HEPA filtration. What comes out of the ceiling goes through the filter, not into the room.

5. ROLL OUT:

Take it down, roll it out, and the room carries on as it was.

  • Debris and particulate matter stay contained within the PCU.
  • Patients and adjacent clinical areas stay protected.
  • The space around the unit can stay open.
  • One person can set it up in minutes, with no tools.
  • Disruption to hospital operations is reduced.
  • Your infection prevention and site safety teams can review and sign off a repeatable, controlled process.
  • 830mm x 1650mm
  • Fits through a standard 900mm doorway
  • 2400mm to 3150mm ceilings
  • 180kg rated
  • Standard 240V outlet
  • H14 HEPA: filters 99.995% of particles down to 0.3 microns

Clears 98.8% of ceiling particulates in 8 minutes*

NATA accredited testing in an operating theatre demonstrated that ceiling void contaminants could be fully contained inside the PCU, and cleared in 8 minutes.

*Tested in Mediflow’s showroom (a simulated operating theatre) by an ISO/IEC 17025 accredited lab. Ceiling-void debris was simulated using a DOP/PAO oil aerosol per AS ISO 14644.3:2021 App. B. The type and size of particulate will change the rate at which particulates are cleared.
